What that means in practice
Many calculator pages end with a “Shop this project” section listing the supplies that job usually needs. Those links go to ordinary retailer pages. Some of them carry a tracking code that tells the retailer we sent you, and if you buy something we receive a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price either way.
We are not a shop. We do not hold stock, take payment, handle returns or ship anything. Everything about your order — price, availability, delivery and returns — is between you and the retailer.
Which retailers
No affiliate program is active on this site right now. The retailer links you see are plain links and earn us nothing. This page will list each program by name as soon as one is in place — it is written in advance so the disclosure can never lag behind the links.
No retailer reviews, approves or endorses anything on this site, and none of them has any say over what the calculators say or which products are listed.
What we do not do
There are no reviews, ratings, rankings or “best pick” claims anywhere on this site, because we have not tested these products and have no basis for making them. You will not find a price comparison either: we have no live price data, so any figure we quoted would be invented. Where a page shows an estimated cost, it is arithmetic on a unit price that you typed in.
A commission has never changed a calculated result. The material quantities, densities and coverage rates are kept completely separate in the code from the list of products a page links to — the calculators cannot see which retailer pays more, because that information does not exist in the same place.
Advertising and contractor referrals
This site is set up to carry display advertising but none is currently being served. Any advertisement will be labelled as advertising wherever it appears. Some pages additionally offer to connect you with local contractors for a quote; those links are labelled as sponsored and we may be paid a referral fee. The privacy policy covers the cookies involved and how to opt out.
